Mining Engineer (Camborne School of Mines) with over 45 years experience in underground (mainly copper extraction) and surface mining (quarries, industrial minerals, clay pits, etc. Monty runs a successful Minerals Consultancy and has been involved with education in the mining industry for 30 years and the MQA since it’s inception. Various accounting, IT and Total Quality Management qualifications with over 25 years involvement in the mining industry (surface). The Mining and Quarrying industries in Southern Africa and particularly in South Africa, understand the need to educate and train their people on an ongoing basis. Technical skills development continues to be one of the most important requirements in our industry and Xtract Training Services has been recognized as being in a strong position to provide top quality training in these areas. We provide training and skills development in line with the MQA requirements and in close cooperation with the Department of Mineral Resources. Provision of learning/training in the South African extractive and related industries. Assessment, moderation and certification of learners against registered unit standards. Generation of qualifications, Skills Programmes, Unit Standards and Competencies and alignment of same. Originally concentrating on Surface Mining and Quarrying, Xtract Training Services has now extended its scope to include Rock Engineering and Strata Control as well as Underground Hard Rock and Underground Coal. This allows us to offer a fairly extensive range of training for both the Underground and Surface Extractive industries.
